Fusu - the domain name stock exchange

Read this from Domain Name News today - There’s a company called, Fusu, that thinks it’s hit the jackpot on a grand idea : a stock exchange for domain names. Hmmm… sounds plausible but why would anyone want to sell shares in a domain they own? That’s what I thought at the start but then the more I thought about it the more I thought, what would I do if I had a $10,000 domain name? Imagine if I could sell 49% share in it, retain ownership and still use it to make money? Now I’ve got an extra $4,900 in the kitty to invest in other stuff and I get to see an instantaneous valuation of my domain when its share price goes up / down. For this to succeed, its going to need to generate a massive amount of buzz so that it can grow its marketplace and also build a good, honest, trustworthy reputation - no one’s going to throw money at a site they don’t trust!

All in all, an interesting concept however… personally, I don’t mind being a seller but as a buyer, I won’t be buying anything that doesn’t pay me a dividend. Fusu’s currently in beta state. I’ll remember to check back in a couple of months to see how it goes…
